Toshi
Micro-Investment Platform for First-Time Investors
THE CHALLENGE
Traditional investment platforms intimidate newcomers with jargon, high minimum deposits, and complex interfaces. Young professionals want to build wealth but don't know where to start. They're overwhelmed by ticker symbols, portfolio rebalancing, and asset allocation decisions. Existing robo-advisors are either too expensive or lack the educational scaffolding to build financial literacy alongside wealth.
THE SOLUTION
Toshi is a micro-investment app for people who have never invested before. Start with just 1 €. No jargon — instead of 'stocks' and 'bonds,' users choose goals: 'Save for a trip,' 'Build an emergency fund,' 'Long-term wealth.' The app recommends diversified portfolios matched to risk tolerance, rebalances automatically, and rounds up daily purchases to invest spare change.
Built in Flutter for cross-platform deployment, Toshi runs on an AWS cloud architecture with a focus on EU data protection and compliance. The interface is playful but never patronizing — progress visualizations, bite-sized educational content, and celebration moments when milestones are reached. As a closed beta, Toshi validated product-market fit with real test users and proved that investing can be accessible, automatic, and aligned with real-life goals.
